Wow, this is real leadership

Submitted by The Storyteller on October 9, 2009 - 7:12am.

I found this story inspiring. Get past the first few slides and the real story about the businessman who became a state school teacher and then inspired his inner city students to start their own businesses and take control of their own lives is amazing:

Book Review & Extract: The Hamster Revolution (how to tame email)

Submitted by The Storyteller on June 28, 2009 - 3:31pm.

I haven't been in here for a while, as I seem to be overwhlmed - with information. In case you are feeling the same way (who isn't!) attached is a pdf of the opening chapter of The Hamster Revolution, which is all about how to get off the information treadmill and tame your email. It's not time management you need to get on top of, it's email management.

David Rock, author of Quiet Leadership and, with Jeffrey Schwarz, pioneer of the 'neuroscience of leadership' - has an interesting page of podcasts on the site 'podbean'. Includes some of the outcomes and findings of the 2008 Asia Pacific NeuroLeadership summit  You can find them here:

Do not walk in front of me. Albert Camus on leadership

Submitted by The Storyteller on March 24, 2009 - 6:52pm.

Do not walk behind me, I may not lead.

Do not walk in front of me, I may not follow.

Just walk beside me and be my friend.

- Albert Camus

I wonder how much leaders today have to walk alongside people rather than in front of them.

Anne Mulcahey: video profile of the kind of leader we all need

Submitted by The Storyteller on February 9, 2009 - 4:03pm.

I like Anne Mulcahey and the way she turned around Xerox. As we are all having to lead through tough times now, we can learn from 'turnaround' CEOs who led through their own tough times - when their company in particular was going through the equivalent of its own personal downturn. Here's a BusinessWeek short video profile of Mulcahey. I think it gives us an insight into the kind of CEO we all need in the current economic downturn.

OK, the embed didn't work from the BusinessWeek site, so here's a link
