Leading through true stories: a new approach

I'm fascinated by slideshares like the one below, because they teach us how to communicate more effectively - how to tell stories more effectively. Note how few words there are, yet how powerful the communication is.

In terms of the content of this particular one, note the emphasis on personal story as a way of reaching people. Talking to people about your authentic self - what you feel, see and hear and how that affects you - and talking about individual stories of individual real people, is a much more powerful way of touching people than generalizations, facts, figures, statistics.

As the slideshare creator says, telling people about you tells them about themselves and how they connect with you. A powerful argument for authentic leadership and the power of genuine personal communication. So, if you're a leader, think about the leadership communication tools you now use or receive from your bosses - the memos, email broadcasts, press releases with quotes in, all packed with management-speak (sorry if I am doing you an injustice), speeches, presentations ... and think about how you can adapt them to become more authentic.
