A really simple balanced scorecard

As Rob has led this group and shared so much with us, but recently been sucked back into leading in his workplace (I'll email him and see if we can get him back into The Hub as he's so valuable), I've found this to keep our conversation on The Balanced Scorecard going.

It's not quite as simple as the author says it is. But it is more simple than a lot of balanced scorecards. I once heard Norton of Kaplan & Norton (or was it Kaplan? I've heard them both speak separately and can't remember which one said this...I think it was Kaplan, on reflection, at the European Conference on Customer Management a few years ago in London) that the prime error with balanced scorecards is too many metrics. He recalled how one bank had reported proudly to him (the bank was a member of K&N's balanced scorecard community that the two of them run) that they had just added their 100th metric to their scorecard.

Anyway, this is a nice Slideshare and also links to a useful website (the author's). If you start to fade a bit halfway through, it picks up again towards the end, so bear with it:
