The real power within: a tip from new member Michael

New Hub member Michael Scully shared this with me, below, and I think it's a powerful way of helping people feel less powerless in the face of the global financial maelstrom, the downturn and, on a more mundane note, how to deal with the lows of each day or week and focus them (and you!) on resilience. Michael said I could post it here. Do tell him what you think of this and if you found it useful. Thanks. Obviously, do credit Michael if you use this technique anywhere to help boost morale and 'can do' spirit. Phil Dourado

How to lead without formal authority?

Hi everyone,

I'm struggling my head trying to find the right way to mobilize a group of people.

First some conext: I'm working on a complex technology company, our organizational structure is a multi-dimensional matrix. There're some common horizontal areas of knowledge and some vertical ones.

Complex Adaptive Systems: Who's doing it?

Hub Member Bren just asked me if anyone in The Hub knows of an organization or organizations that use theories of Complex Adaptive Systems (or Intelligent Complex Adaptive Systems) to help 'run' and 'lead' the organization. I put 'run' and 'lead' in inverted commas, because the very basis of the theory behind all this is that you don't lead or run an organization in the traditional sense when you recognize that it is a complex adaptive system.

seek mastermind

Hello, My name is Richard, I live in Toronto, Canada.

I have not been involved in a mastermind group before.  However, after starting my own business in 2004, I feel the time is now right.

I would like to meet other honest, ambitious people to discuss goals and support each other in attaining them.  I am interested in the works of Wallace Wattles and Napoleon Hill.

My market is compiling government contact data, and I am learning all I can about MS Access and special list industry programs.

My understanding of Leadership

  • Probity in Public Life : As you become a boss, you sit in a glass cabin. You are like a mannequin in a showroom whom on Delhi's crowded streets in the night everyone likes to see undressed or changing dresses.
