The Hub Rules
The Leadership Hub is a global Community of Practice. Leaders at all levels (a ‘leader’ doesn’t have to mean the people at the top; in fact, it shouldn’t) use it to share insights, experiences, tools, tips, inspiration and ideas on how to lead better. It’s a collaborative learning space that accelerates progress for everyone taking part in it.
The rules are minimal. In fact they are just two:
1. PLEASE DO LURK to start with, to get the feel for The Hub and how it works. ‘Lurkers’ wander around communities unseen, leaving no footprints, absorbing other peoples’ thoughts and insights and not contributing their own. That’s OK for your first couple of reconnaissance tours around The Hub. But if, after your second or third visit, you haven’t put your toe in the water and contributed anything, then do something – preferably write the first instalment of your weekly Leadership Log, to avoid becoming an ongoing lurker.
2. DO CONTRIBUTE. Er, that’s it. The more you give, the more you get…blah blah. It’s a powerful general rule that we all learn best by teaching. But, all the moreso when the subject is leadership, because the core skill of leadership is creating other leaders, not followers. And so, contributing to others’ development in The Hub is a way of honing your core leadership skill. People you interact with in The Hub will give you feedback on how useful you have been in helping them develop, which will help you get better at it. So, it’s a big cycle of improvement all round.
