In some parts of the world we call it ‘the elephant in the room’. Over the past decade or so, Jim (being Canadian) has popularized his own phrase for it – The moose on the table. It’s the big, scary ‘thing’ about your organization that everyone knows needs fixing, but everyone knows can’t be fixed as it is too deeply-entrenched. So, it is ignored.
