Hey, Avalok: The Razor's Edge had a profound effect on me when I read it years ago. One of my fave books. But, have COMPLETELY forgotten it, so now that you have put it here as inspiring, I'll go revisit it (if I can find it on the shelves). Thanks!

Yep, I think it is one of Maugham's finest work. Worth rereading. The other books of his I really like are "Of Human Bondage" & "Cakes and Ale".
