My details
- My own or my organization's website
- A movie I love
- Lord of the Rings. I love the fantasy and the inspiration - overcoming challenges
- A leader who inspires me
- There are so many. People come into and out of my life on a regular basis who inspire me.
- A book I love
- Infidel by Ayaan Hirse Ali. This is one of the most moving books I have read for a long time.
- My background
My experience over the past 11 years has been within the publishing industry.  I am currently Managing Director of a Shared Services Business Operation with centres in Australia, Malaysia and small satellites in Singapore and China.
Prior to my current organisation I worked for a well known global card and travel organisation as Director of Operations. Â
- Most embarrassing moment
Getting lost.  This happens to me on a regular basis. I can't read maps and am always ending up in the wrong place.Â
My Hub experience
- The leader I will be five years from now
A truly inspirational visionary leader who can inspire and motivate others to reach their full potential not just follow.Â
- Areas I want to develop
I have been more fortunate than most to have had so many inspirational people in my life.  People who instilled in me the belief that I could do and achieve anything I set put to do if I believed strongly enough and I put in the effort.  If you are surrounded by positive, motivated and success people it is almost impossible for you to be the same.Â
Have the courage to say no. Have the courage to face the truth. Do the right thing because it is right. These are the magic keys to living your life with integrity.
W. Clement StoneMy goals are:
1. I have a continuous thirst to learn, develop and grow.  I am acknowledged as a being a strong leader but you can always learn more and do better.   The areas which I am keen to further develop are management of my emotions.  I am usually calm but at times I allow my emotions to overtake.    I am interested in how others react, control and channel their energy.
2. Managing people who are easy to inspire to do their very best is one thing but trying to manage and motivate those who are so bitter about everything is something I would like to learn from others to do better.  I am taking on a number of challenges in this area at the present time. Â
2. To learn from others how as business leaders we can encourage ours and other businesses to act with integrity. So much of what I see in business today disappoints – it is about making money at any cost.   We have a responsibility to contribute to the development and wellbeing of people and the environment.  Â
- Expertise I bring to The Hub
I have many years experience in driving organisational change and operational transformation.   Over the past 4-years my focus has been on the establishment of a Shared Services and Off-shore operation.   I have been fortunate in the experiences I have gained and the people who have taught me about self-motivation. Â
- Mentor, coach or buddy wanted
- Be a mentor, coach or buddy
My Leadership Log/Diary
Is being successful enough? Do we have the right to demand more?
I was asked a question last week.  The question related to very successful business women.  I was asked if the person in question was an inspirational leader.   It disappointed me to respond; no I don’t believe she is.   She is extremely successful and one of the leading business women in the world.  Whilst I admire her success I wouldn’t ‘walk across broken glass’ for her.

Hands off my ladder - playing devils advocate
There are a number of discussions across various groups on leadership vs management.    A thought provoking article here.  Â

Cycles
There has been a lot of discussion recently with regards to the 'economic down-turn'.   Life and all that is associated with life is about cycles.  I found the following quote from one of my hero's W.Clement Stone. Sums up nicely don't you think? Perhaps we need to pay more attention to cycles...
"Events tend to recur in cycles..."Â

Hindu Insight
The tree may be cut back, but it grows again.
The moon may wane, but it shines anew.
Good men go on despite calamities.
* Hindu proverb
We should also add women of course. However wise words and somethjing for us to ponder in this age of turmoil don't you think?Â
More Wisdom from Sun Tzu
The opportunity to secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.
