Leadership, Love and Bosses

I have just read a book called “The Servant, A Simple Story About the True Essence of Leadership” by John Hunter. In this book Hunter says that true leadership is based on authority and not on power. And authority is the result of a behavior and behavior is a matter of will. Therefore, leadership is a matter of will.He makes an incredible comparison between leadership as a service and the definition of love. (As defined by Saint Paul, (Chorintios XIII)). He says that the characteristics of leadership are the same as the characteristics of love.

Double persona!

Hi all,

I am relatively new to the Hub in terms of being an active member.  You may know me better as the_architect, the guy who helped put this site together.

I am now looking to tap the brains of the many members we have to expand my understanding of leadership.

I look forward to meeting you all!

Leadership and Conversation: The Sixth Discipline

I once heard 'conversation' described as the 'Sixth Discipline' - a reference to Peter Senge's Fifth Discipline - implying that conversation is the great secret, ignored discipine that managers and leaders need to get better at, and fast. I absolutely agree.

Five things that inspiring leaders do

According to Nigel Crouch, who led research for the UK government into 'what makes an inspiring leader', they behave in these five ways:

What makes an inspiring leader?

     1 They listen
     2 They involve
     3 They trust
     4 They appreciate
     5 They have fun

Tough Times Demand Resilient Leaders

The stock market gyrates with unpredictable and heartburning results. Icons of solid companies become straw figures before balance sheets. Children are abducted from their front yards and networks of terrorists spiral throughout the world. Religious institutions cast shadows of duplicity while El Nino brings strange fish to the California coasts and out-of-control fires head toward ancient Sequoias.
