Changing Voicemail Greetings

Submitted by Anonymous on December 12, 2008 - 5:53am.
Last post we talked about how companies don’t update the message on their Interactive Voice Response systems (IVRs)? Today we will discuss the opposite extreme. There are those that change their voicemail message every day, regardless of whether there is a change. For more, click here.

Weather Report

Nick, Read the comments in the links and they tell me that I must be anal retentive because I change my greeting everyday and give the weather report for whatever city that I am in for that day, usually my home town. It makes people realise that I am "present". Some just think I am an idiot. Oh well. cheers, Rob

Messengers and other stuff

Our company uses microsoft's office communicator, which I always look at first, before calling someone because (and there's always a proviso, they have to be logged in to the system) it shows me their free busy info. Also, if they are out of office, then that OOO message gets shown as well. Obviously this doesn't work with customers, but, across different offices, it works well for me. I tend, personally, to change my auto response when I am in or out of the office. That being said, I also do not consider it particularly anal if folks do change their message every day. It is much more irritating to hear a month old 'I will be out of the office until such and such a date' message. Regards, Colin. As the great philosopher K said. 1500 years ago, everybody knew that the earth was the centre of the universe. 500 years ago, everybody knew the world was flat. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow.

The problem is not that there are problems. The problem is expecting otherwise and thinking that having problems is a problem.

World's Top 30 Leadership GurusThanks for your vote...
If you voted in the World Leadership Gurus Top 30, the Hub's founder, Phil Dourado, came 14th this year (2012), up three places from 17th last year. The organisers say it is "because of the originality and impact of your work" that Phil was put in the Top 30 in the first place. And that means this Hub and the award-winning corporate versions we run for large companies. For more on how a private corporate version of The Hub works, email: phildourado@theleadershiphub.com
