Three questions leaders should ask

A leadership tip from Captain D. Michael Abrashoff, author of It's Your Ship

Captain Abrashoff used to regularly ask every member of his 300-strong crew these three questions:

1. What do you like most about working here?
2. What don’t you like about working here?
3. If you were the Captain, what would you change?

He used the answers to transform his ship from one of the lowest-performing in the US Pacific fleet to 'the best damn ship in the Navy', breaking performance records and boosting morale to such heights that the crew re-signing rate (those who sign up again - the qeuivalent of their employee retention rate) rose from 22% to 100%.
