Carly Fiorina: Are you a manager or a leader?

Submitted by PhilDourado on September 3, 2012 - 8:04am.

The wonderful Carly Fiorina, on the difference between managers and leaders. When Fiorina says leading change is dangerous, she knows what she's talking about. Ousted as CEO of Hewlett-Packard, she then retrospectively was acknowledged as a brilliant CEO there by Tom Peters and others, as that company soared to new heights using the strategy she had fought to put in place, making enemies by leading the change she knew the business needed.

More videos like this on stvp.stanford.edu , including the wonderful Guy Kawasaki. This clip is just a taster of what Standford have on that site, to tempt you to go check it out. Phil Dourado

Thanks.

It is difficult to say so much in such few words. Excellent.

Leaders are people who can discern the inevitable and act accordingly. When people talk about business acumen, discernment is a big part of it. It's a bit like gut instinct, but a little more developed.
