How To Be Different (Spoon Man)

Submitted by PhilDourado on May 21, 2012 - 1:06pm.

Most slide guitarists - in fact all slide guitarists - use a bottle neck or something to slide up and down the strings, leaving themselves with no lefthand to pick the strings with. So, this guitarist decided to do it differently. It shows that ingenuity is all you need to not do it the same way as everyone else. Leading difference is what you leaders do. Because if doing what everyone else does is all you want your people to do, then you're a manager. And you need to be both - leading people into new territory, encouraging them to do new things, as well as getting the old things - what everyone else does - right, too.

Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things.

World's Top 30 Leadership GurusThanks for your vote...
If you voted in the World Leadership Gurus Top 30, the Hub's founder, Phil Dourado, came 14th this year (2012), up three places from 17th last year. The organisers say it is "because of the originality and impact of your work" that Phil was put in the Top 30 in the first place. And that means this Hub and the award-winning corporate versions we run for large companies. For more on how a private corporate version of The Hub works, email: phildourado@theleadershiphub.com
